What are the requirements for acceptance?
Acceptance requirements vary by program and can be found in our JWU Catalog > Admissions Requirements page.
Do I need to take the GMAT/GRE?
The GMAT/GRE is required for certain degree programs if your cumulative grade point average (GPA) does not meet the minimum required GPA for that program.
How long does the application process take?
Once an application is complete and all supporting documents received, it typically takes the Admissions Committee 7-10 business days to process and for the student to be notified of the decision or to be invited to interview. Once an admissions decision is made, students are notified either by email to view their decision letter through their Admissions Portal.
How will I find out if I am accepted?
Students will be notified by email when decisions are available to view in the applicant portal.
How much is tuition?
Visit the Tuition & Fees page for current rates.
How do I pay my tuition and fees?
Domestic graduate students can apply for financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition, students are assigned a financial planner who can assist with establishing payment plans and making one-time payments.
Is there financial aid available?
Students are eligible to apply for financial aid through the FAFSA application. Graduate students are eligible for loans only.
How can I apply for a scholarship?
Some programs offer scholarships, but most do not. However, some JWU alums may be eligible for a 25% tuition discount.
Are international students eligible to enroll in graduate programs?
Yes, international students are eligible to enroll in some graduate programs at the Providence Campus. Eligible programs for international students will populate on the application when you indicate you are an international student. If your academic study is in progress and you are admitted to JWU, you will be required to provide the appropriate documents upon completion of your studies.
How are the courses delivered?
Some courses are delivered over the full 16-week semester, others over eight weeks, with two 8-week sessions per semester.
- Providence: Course delivery for most programs is in the form of face-to-face classes meeting once a week in the evening. The Ed.D. program meets every other weekend including Friday evening and all day Saturday.
How long will it take me to complete the courses?
Length of time varies by program. However, students who are continuously enrolled at full-time status (three classes per semester) typically finish within one and one half to two years.
What are my housing options?
The Providence Campus offers on-campus housing for graduate students in apartment-style living or students may live off campus. Graduate student on-campus housing is not available in Charlotte.
I have a 3-year degree. Can I enroll into an MBA program?
Some international three-year degree programs equate to a four-year bachelor’s degree, but not all. If your degree is not equivalent, you will be required to take the one-year pre-master’s program before beginning work at the master’s level. The pre-master’s program provides the opportunity for qualified three-year degree holders to earn a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree while fulfilling master’s prerequisites.
The pre-master’s program is 10 classes and takes one academic year to complete. The pre-master’s program is only offered in Providence.
When does each semester start?
Graduate programs are offered on a 16-week semester calendar with classes starting in August and January. Refer to our academic calendars for important dates.
What is the deadline to apply to the next semester?
JWU utilizes rolling admissions, meaning there are no deadlines to apply. Please keep in mind, however, that applying early is less stressful. International students should plan to be accepted at least 90 days prior to the beginning of the semester in order to make visa interview appointments.
I’m an international student. Can I pick up my I-20 at the school instead of having it mailed to me?
Yes. Please notify the Graduate Admissions Office to make arrangements.
