Michael Childers

Michael Childers received a B.S. in Accounting and B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1996. He went on to receive a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 2000.
After graduating from law school, Childers spent more than five years in private practice with Hedrick Eatman Gardner and Kincheloe in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Raymond James Financial Inc., in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He joined the faculty at Johnson & Wales University in 2006, was promoted to full professor in 2014, and was named College Chair for the College of Arts & Sciences in spring 2015. He has served as an arbitrator for Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) since 2007. In 2008, he was admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court.
Childers' areas of practice included employment law, civil litigation, workers’ compensation, constitutional law and appellate advocacy. He has written articles and made conference presentations in the areas of workers’ compensation law, trial techniques, employment law and constitutional law.
