Aleko Kimbouris

Aleko Kimbouris, M.P.H., M.S.H.S., PA-C, joined JWU’s Physician Assistant team in 2018 as an assistant professor.
He graduated from Worcester State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Following graduation, Kimbouris worked as a nuclear medicine technologist at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He relocated to Washington, D.C., to attend George Washington University, where he obtained a Master of Science in Health Studies and a Master in Public Health with a concentration in Community Oriented Primary Care.
Since graduating in 2008, he has worked in neurosurgery, critical care medicine and general surgery. As one of the first neurosurgical PAs at a large community hospital in Maryland, he was instrumental in helping to develop the neurosurgery program. He has also worked as a consultant in health informatics, interprofessional education and training, and implementation of electronic medical record systems.
At heart, Kimbouris is an educator, and throughout his career he has enjoyed teaching nuclear medicine students, physician assistant students, nurses and residents.
Before joining JWU, he guest-lectured at the George Washington University Physician Assistant Program and provided many lectures on caring for neurosurgical patients at Holy Cross Hospital. Currently, he is practicing cardiac critical care medicine at a local hospital.
In 2019 Professor Kimbouris was appointed to the RI Department of Health Physician Assistant Licensing Board by Governor Gina Raimondo. He serves as Director-at-Large for the Board of the Rhode Island Academy of Physician Assistants.
His professional interests include healthcare policy, research and educating the next generation of PAs. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring new restaurants.
