William Klika's professional path to JWU began not in the classroom, but on the playing fields. After graduating from Lehigh University, he was an athletic coach and administrator for more than 20 years at the NCAA Division I and III levels.

Along the way, Klika received a master’s degree in Teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Ph.D. in Sports Leadership from Concordia University in Chicago. He began teaching at the college level in 2009, and finds it incredibly rewarding.

Klika's areas of specialization include sport management, sport business and economics, global sport, sports sociology, and athletic administration. He has done research regarding student-athlete experiences and philanthropy, and will be continuing research here at JWU.

Q&A with William

How Did You Get Started?

I was a college baseball, football, and strength coach starting in 1993. Around 2005, my former school asked if I would be interested I teaching a few courses in their new program. I enjoyed it and decided to go back to school for my PhD., which led me to JWU in 2016.
