Chris Roy grew up in Vermont and realized at an early age that he was fascinated with chemistry. He was awarded the Vermont Scholar’s Scholarship and the Thomas J. Watson Scholarship to attend the University of Vermont, where he earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry. Chris Roy earned his Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry at Virginia Tech and realized he wanted to pursue a career in academics. He completed his postdoctoral work at Ohio University before becoming a professor at Duke University. During his 20 years at Duke University, Chris Roy held positions at both the university and at Duke’s Marine Laboratory and was an Associate Dean of Trinity College. At the Duke Marine Lab, his research interests were in the isolation of anti-cancer compounds from marine organisms where he mentored undergraduate students in various research projects. Chris joined the faculty at Johnson and Wales University in 2022, where he is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the College of Health and Wellness.
