Updated October 2024
Applying to Johnson & Wales University is your chance to take the next step towards the future you envision — and it’s free! There’s no application fee, so you can focus on showcasing your best self without worrying about extra costs.
You get to choose how you shine — whether you use our JWU application or apply via the Common App. We know you’re driven and motivated, so we’ve made the essay optional (but encouraged!) and test scores optional, too. This flexibility allows you to highlight your strengths and unique experiences in the way that suits you best.
The JWU application and the Common App open on August 1. This year, there are two Early Action deadlines:
Early Action is a non-binding application process that allows you to apply to Johnson & Wales University ahead of the rolling admissions process. By applying early, you’ll receive your admission decision sooner, giving you more time to plan for your future. You’re not obligated to attend JWU if you’re accepted, but you’ll benefit from early notification. This option is perfect for students who are eager to get a head start on their college journey and want to secure their spot early.
If you miss the Early Action deadlines, don’t worry! We offer rolling admissions. The earliest you’ll hear back from us is early February, and after that, you can expect a response within 2-4 weeks of completing your application. This rolling process gives you the flexibility to apply when you’re ready and still receive a timely decision. The final deadline to apply for Fall 2025 is July 15, 2025.
We believe in a holistic review process. This means we evaluate each piece of your application thoroughly and in context with other materials. You are not just a number or a formula to us. We’re excited to get to know you and see the unique qualities you’ll bring to our community.
We’re committed to making a JWU education as affordable as possible. To be considered for financial aid (including federal aid and institutional scholarships and grants), complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using JWU’s school code: 003404. The FAFSA will open this fall, so apply as early as possible to maximize the amount of aid available to you — and hear back sooner.
At JWU, 98% of students receive financial aid, and our dedicated financial planners are here to assist you every step of the way. Our priority deadline to receive your completed FAFSA is February 1. Need help? Make an appointment with a financial planner — every student is matched with one!
We understand that applying to college can be overwhelming, but we’re here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out at jwuadmissions@admissions.jwu.edu.
